Concert / A sea of songs... in the city

For International Museum Day the courtyard of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia will turn into an open deck that travels in a sea of songs connecting places, times and traditions of our wider region.
The performance by the women’s group Amalgamation Choir, under the guidance of Vasiliki Anastasiou, unfolds soundscapes and musical traditions of Cyprus, Greece, the Balkans and other adjacent countries bordering the Mediterranean.
Performing songs in a variety of languages and dialects that distinguish our special neighbourhood, the choir remains faithful to the continuous exploration and performance of traditional and original songs.
Female voices meet with familiar melodies and harmonies, exploring fragments of familiar and vernacular stories and songs, accompanied by distinguished guest musicians.
Spring smells and open skies become companions, while the Museum’s stories eavesdrop – or even conspire to enrich the narratives.
