Researchers' Night: Research & Technology at the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia

The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia packs its bags to travel to lovely Limassol in order to participate in the “Researchers’ Night”. The event that celebrates science and research will unfold under the general title “Human Era Night”, focusing mainly on research in the field of cultural heritage.

The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, being the capital’s historical Museum, has linked its name to the promotion of the history of Nicosia, Cyprus in general. Also, as a cultural and educational institution, it vigorously contributes to the field of scientific research whilst actively seeking effective contemporary methods to allow the public to enrich their historical knowledge through a unique museum experience.

With digital technology incorporated into contemporary museology, the Leventis Museum has embraced technology as part of its daily activities. On the Researchers’ Night, the results of recent interdisciplinary research studies triggered in various ways by the Museum’s exhibits and exhibitions will be presented under the title “Research and Technology at the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia”.

Using attractive interactive methods, the public will have the opportunity to “Explore Medieval Nicosia” and become acquainted with our island’s history, to discover “The Secrets of a Royal Portrait”, and to experience life in the city during the 19th c. “Through the Eyes of Foreign Travelers”. Also, young and older visitors will peruse selected museum items from different eras, using educational applications on touch screens.

                              

At the same time, visitors will have the opportunity to meet researchers in person and learn from them about the Museum’s historical, technical, and archaeological research, but also about the technical and technological research carried out by the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (EKETA) of the Cyprus Institute in the context of recent joint programmes.

 

With its presence at the “Researchers’ Night” event, the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia seeks to provide young and older guests with new experiences yielded by the magical world of museum research.

 

“The Researchers’ Night” will be hosted at the Lanitis Carob Mill, in Limassol, on 28 September 2018, from 17.00 to 24:00, with free entrance.
