Τhe struggle for law during the period of British Rule

The lecture aims is to analyse aspects of the struggle for law and justice during the period of the British occupation. It will examine such matters as the peculiar international status of Cyprus during the first period of British rule, the Cypriot constitutional regime, the struggle between Ottoman and English law,
the personal law of the island’s Muslim and Christian communities, and the question of how ‘British’ was the law which was introduced in the late British Period.
There will also be a discussion of touching upon some of the most emblematic cases of the period.
