33rd Annual Event in Memory of Constantine Leventis / Piano Recital / Traces of Light

22.11.24

19.30-20.30

The A. G. Leventis Foundation and the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia  are organising the 33rd Annual Event in memory of Constantinos Leventis*
entitled Traces of Light. This year, instead of the traditional lecture, a different type of event will take place — an evening filled with music and light.

Renowned Greek pianist Panagiotis S. Gogos has curated and will present a special programme featuring works by great composers. The inspiration for this concert programme was the life and work of the late Constantinos Leventis, a life filled with “traces of light.”

As the pianist himself, a close personal friend of Constantinos Leventis, notes:
“The works included in the programme are symbolic and representative of earthly life: beginning with Beethoven — the unceasing struggle of life; moving on to Chopin — the nostalgia for the lost homeland; and concluding with Bach — faith and hope in life after life.”

This unique recital aspires to transport the audience through the sounds of classical music.

The artist

Panagiotis S. Gogos was born in Patras and began his piano studies at the age of six at the Philharmonic Society of his hometown. He graduated with distinction as a soloist and subsequently received, also with distinction, diplomas in Counterpoint and Fugue. He studied for three years in Athens with pianist Valery Sagaidachny, professor at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and in 2001 he won First Prize at the National Piano Competition of the Children’s Choir Association of Greece (X.O.N.), held in Athens.

He continued his studies, on an Onassis Foundation scholarship, in piano and chamber music at the Conservatoire National de Région de Toulouse in France under Professor Thérèse Dussaut, graduating in 2004 with the Prix de Perfectionnement and the Prix de Musique de Chambre. He also maintained a close collaboration for several years with the distinguished pianist and pedagogue Monique Deschaussées in Paris.

From 2006 to 2009 he was accepted as an artist-in-residence at the renowned Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, which selected him to represent the institution as a soloist at the European Day of Music. He has performed in numerous concerts and festivals in Greece and abroad, including at the Parnassos Literary Society and the Greek National Opera in Athens, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Salle Michelet in Paris, Mendelssohn Haus in Leipzig, the Berliner Palmenkonzerte Festival, Löwenpalais and Kulturhaus in Berlin, the Library of Alexandria in Egypt, Cadogan Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna and the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

In December 2010 he represented Greece at the commemorative events for the Chopin Year 2010 at the prestigious Salon Chopin in Paris, as well as at Schloss Ribbeck in Berlin.

He has been awarded the Eleni Tim. Mykoniou Prize by the Academy of Athens as an outstanding young artist.
