Urban Walkers – In the footsteps of Kissonerghis
19.10.22
17.00-19.30
‘Kissonerghis painted the countryside and the villages of Cyprus. He also painted the alleys of Chora, its courtyards and its people. Many remember him wandering in the narrow streets, loaded with his easel and panels, in search of a subject.’
Agni M. Michaelides, [Chora, the old Nicosia], Nicosia 1977, p. 260
Inspired by Kissonerghis’s depictions of the alleys of ‘Chora’ (within the walls of Nicosia), a guided walk will take place in the old city. Following in Kissonerghis’s footsteps, the urban walkers will become observers of the capital, as well as contemporary artists creating their own image of Nicosia.
This activity will conclude with a creative workshop at the Creativity Centre of the Museum.
