Jewellery decorated with filigree details and a design inspired by

a figure of a winged angel found on a cotton whitework embroidery

in the Collections of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, 20th century

 

Whitework embroidery was handmade urban embroidery and was very popular

in Nicosia in the early 20th century. The designs were mainly inspired by flowers,

as well as by figures from Greek mythology.
